Kenya Kamwangi, Washed — Grapefruit, Cane Sugar, Blackcurrant

A high-toned, juicy cup from the slopes below Mount Kenya. Sharp grapefruit leads it off, a wash of cane sugar sweetness carries the middle, and it finishes on a snap of blackcurrant that lingers cup after cup. Bold and lively — the coffee equivalent of throwing the curtains open.

From the Kamwangi factory in Kirinyaga County, run by the New Ngariama Farmers' Cooperative Society, where around 1,500 smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherry from SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11 trees grown between 1,600 and 1,800 metres — then Kenya's traditional double-soak process, a longer, more deliberate fermentation than most origins use, coaxes out every bit of that signature acidity.

Best enjoyed as a Medium Roast.
